“Azerboru” OJSC (AzerPipe) was founded in 1947. Located in Sumgait city, it is Azerbaijan's only Pipe Rolling Plant, and was the main component in the Soviet Union's steel industry for the Caspian Region. With easy access to the Caspian Sea, Azerboru was and is, well placed to supply the needs of the Caspian's extensive oil & gas industries.

 The first steel pipe of Azerbaijan was rolled in 1952. Since that time, and up to 1995, the main products at the “Azerboru” Plant were OCTG pipes. In addition to seamless hot rolled-pipes, “Azerboru” turned out Azerbaijan's first steel billets in Marten's furnaces in 1954; by July 1957 the production of blooms and tubular steel billets had started.

On 8^th January 2006 processing agreement between the companies of Open Joint-Stock Society “Azerboru” and “DET-Al Metal DMCC” (U.A.E.) was made, on the basis of goods made on commission in accordance with Company “DET-Al Metal DMCC” undertakes to provide the Plant with tubular steel billets for processing purpose in the production fields of the Open Joint-Stock Society “Azerboru” and to pay the processing fees.

 In the context of the Contract that said above, “DET-Al Metal DMCC” also realizes pre-financing of the reconstruction program of steel pipe production in OJSC “Azerboru”. The representatives of “DET-Al Metal DMCC” takes an active part and consulting OJSC “Azerboru” in application of the contemporary methods of corporative management, modernization of equipment and certification of products in accordance with international standards.

 At present, the plant is on its way to retrieve its past fame and significance, with an ambitious and intensive development program to produce steel seamless pipes under GOST and API (American Petroleum Institute) standards. Full-scale production is to be restarted mid-2008.

 The plant will undergo, not only number of upgrades in power and manufacturing systems, but also refurbishment of its buildings and facilities. All these undertakings are scheduled to be completed by December 2008.
